Brett Sainty CMgr CCMI

Chief Executive Officer

Brett has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He drives the strategy for the business along with overseeing all business operations, upholding the highest standards of corporate citizenship and social responsibility wherever and whenever we do business. He is a motivated and forward-thinking leader with a constant appetite for innovation and strategy. Brett is a firm believer in leading by example and, as a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute, he takes pride in leading a business that people want to work for and with.

Mark Greenwood

Chief Financial Officer

Mark is a commercial finance professional with over 35 years’ experience in business. Prior to joining BLW, Mark held a variety of CFO roles across a number of businesses, including Tasker Insurance Group, Towergate Underwriting and Property Insurance Initiatives, where he worked closely with Brett supporting the customer-focused growth strategy. Mark is a Chartered Accountant with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Mark Gilbert

Managing Director

Mark has over 38 years of experience in the insurance industry, all of which has been spent in the London Market. He has worked across several businesses including Stafford Knight, Towergate, and Apex Insurance Services Ltd and gained a wealth of insurance and management expertise.

Mark joins BLW from Apex Insurance Services where he held the post of Divisional Director since 2007 managing specialist divisions of Apex Insurance Services Ltd.

Prior to that Mark held the role of Broking Director on the board of Towergate London Market where he was responsible for the Group’s corporate and scheme placements into Lloyd’s and the London Market as well as being involved with acquisitions made by Towergate including that of Stafford Knight & Edgar Hamilton.

Jaimie Quill

Group Broking Director

Jaimie is a highly experienced London market and Lloyd’s placing broker. Prior to joining the senior management team at BLW, Jaimie worked with Miles Smith where he gained expertise across all classes of UK and Irish commercial risks along with extensive experience in the Australian market. Jaimie spends a significant amount of his time in the London market, trading face to face with our underwriting partners and ensuring the highest levels of customer service.

Sandy Brownlee

Director

Sandy brings over 45 years of experience in the insurance industry to BLW. Sandy’s focus is on the maintenance of BLW’s local broker networks and the development of new relationships with independent brokers and direct customers in Scotland, with BLW being well-placed to support them with the placement of their challenging and non-standard risks. Sandy has extensive experience in the Scottish market and has previously opened offices in Scotland for Byas Mosley and Lucas Fettes & Partners. Sandy previously worked with Brett Sainty whilst at Towergate and Lucas Fettes.

Elaine Barclay

Director

Elaine brings more than three decades of experience in working within the insurance marketplace, with the likes of WTW, Aon, Marsh and Zurich, primarily within the North East and Scotland. She is responsible for strengthening our relationships with regional brokers and direct commercial and corporate customers around the UK as well as supporting the growth of our niche products and services. A former President of the Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow and current President of the Insurance Institute of Hull, Elaine reinforces our commitment to maintaining professional standards and delivering a customer-centric, knowledgeable approach.

Iain Stephen

Non-Executive Director

Iain joined the BLW leadership team in 2021 to focus on the company’s dedication to corporate governance and compliance processes and systems, bringing a wealth of experience in this field in-house. Iain joins BLW from Compliancy Services Limited, a regulatory compliance consultancy, where he was Founder and Joint-CEO from 2003 until the sale of the company in 2021. Iain has provided sage counsel to Brett Sainty and Mark Greenwood for over ten years and has a strong track record of implementing quality management principles, providing efficient management reporting, and improving productivity.
