Specialist Lloyd’s broker BLW Insurance Brokers has appointed Elaine Barclay as a main board director.
Subject to regulatory approval, Barclay will join the board next month.
In her new role, Barclay will be focused on developing BLW’s direct commercial business across the UK. BLW said the appointment reinforces its commitment to maintaining professional standards and delivering a customer-centric approach.
Barclay joins BLW from South West Broking Ltd, where she most recently served as client director. In this role, Barclay was responsible for the business development of corporate clients and complex insurance programs.
Other previous roles include senior client executive at Marsh Commercial, also corporate business manager and managing underwriter at Zurich Insurance Scotland.
Barclay currently serves as president of the Insurance Institute of Hull, and previously held the presidency of the Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow.
Commenting on the appointment, Brett Sainty, CEO of BLW, said: “Elaine brings a wealth of experience to our business and our main board. It was immediately clear that Elaine is perfectly aligned to the values and relentless drive at BLW to put customer service at the very heart of everything we do.
“This appointment is a clear indicator of the developing plans and ambitions that we have for BLW. I am excited about the opportunities that this will bring for BLW, its clients and partners.”
Barclay added: “I am delighted to be joining the BLW board of directors. I have seen at firsthand how customer-focused the entire BLW team are. I am therefore looking forward to working with the board and embarking on this exciting new chapter in my career.”
