BLW is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Gilbert as a main board director, subject to regulatory approval.

Mark joins BLW on 25th November 2022 and will focus on developing the company’s schemes and corporate business.

Mark has over 38 years of experience in the insurance industry, all of which has been spent in the London Market. He has worked across several businesses including Stafford Knight, Towergate, and Apex Insurance Services Ltd.

Mark joins BLW from Apex Insurance Services where he has held the post of Divisional Director since 2007. In this role he was responsible for the management of Security Industries Specialist Services and Assist Insurance Solutions, a specialist division of Apex Insurance Services Ltd.

Prior to that, from 2000, Mark held the role of London Markets Director at Towergate where he was responsible for the Group’s placements into Lloyd’s and the London Market. Mark was promoted to the Board of Directors in 2003. He remained in situ throughout the acquisitions made by Towergate including that of Stafford Knight in 2000, where he had worked since 1991 as a Divisional Director responsible for leading the Lloyd’s placements, and that of Edgar Hamilton in 2004.

Earlier in his career, Mark gained experience in a variety of roles at Richards Longstaff & Co, Sedgewick International, and CT Bowring Reinsurance.
