I would like to extend a very warm welcome, to my colleagues and partners in the Scottish insurance market, to the newly- established BLW Broking Desk in the heart of Scotland.

BLW Insurance Brokers (BLW) is a Lloyd’s Coverholder, giving us access to a wide range of binders and unique markets and wordings, and providing a solution for difficult to place risks. BLW has been operating for 50 years, having been established in 1971, and we are proudly independent and owned by our working directors.

We are acutely mindful of the challenges that the market currently presents. The conditions, which have resulted from reduced capacity and changes in underwriting appetite, have been addressed in our earlier articles on the hard market, published in November and December, 2020.

Our arrival in Scotland is designed to support local brokers in Scotland, for when the “computer says no” or for when our traditional composite insurers are unable to help. BLW is especially well-placed to help with these difficult and challenging risks.

Having been a customer-facing broker for 45 years, I understand the importance of building and maintaining client relationships, and I have a profound understanding of the difficulties faced by the provincial markets. I’m delighted to be here, on the ground in Scotland, and look forward to supporting you with your challenging risks.
